Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post - BBQ!  Brisket, Elgin Sausage, Pork Loin, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Three Cheese Macaroni, Guacamole, Sweet Corn
The brisket and sausage were from Branches BBQ, but everything else was made by me.  Also not included in the photo are my banana pudding, peanut butter cookies, cinnamon/chocolate chip cookies, and vegetarian queso.
So far, nineteen people have been in and out of here while several more promise to show up soon.  It’s crazy.  I’ve moved from beer to gin and I’m getting crazy drunk.  I’m calling in tomorrow.

Hoarr Late Night Dinner Post - Pulled Pork (with BBQ Sauce), Sweet Carrots, Corn on the Cob, and some bagged steamed rice…
Remember that roast I was talking about last night?
Turns out that it goes great with BBQ sauce and a Brooklyn Summer Ale.

Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner - Chicken Marinara topped with Fontina cheese served with sweet corn on the cob and black beans with Monterery Jack cheese
Remember that bit earlier about drinking vodka and not cooking because I was playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES?
As it would turn out, that game is still as fucking hard as it was whenever I was a kid.  I gave it up thirty minutes in and whipped up something in the kitchen based on what I had on hand.  Not a bad meal at all.

Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post - Pan Seared Pork Steak served with roasted balsamic asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes topped with mushroom gravy
Last week I mentioned how a co-worker managed to purchase a show-hog, fatten that sombitch up, and slaughter it for its delicious, delicious meats?  Besides the pork sausage and bacon, I was given a couple of pounds of pork steak to do with whatever I wanted to do with.
Cast iron skillet + butter + salt, pepper, and garlic seasoning rub = the above.
Add in the fact that I’ve got a brand new dining room set, and I believe that I’ve finally got to the point where throwing a house party makes sense.  I cook the food, guests bring the alcohol…perfect plan, right?

Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post - Grilled Cheese (Provolone, Swiss, and Colby Jack) with Roma tomatoes and Bacon, served with fried potatoes
I couldn’t really get a great shot of this one, but it ending up hitting a particular spot.  What made this meal extra incredible was the type of bacon I used — fresh from the slaughter house.
A co-worker of mine gave me tons of pork sausage and bacon for free after he invested in a prize-hog.  When the piggy croaked, his was close to three hundred and fifty pounds, and all of his delicious insides were distributed among him and three other people.
I have enough pork sausage in my freezer to last me till the holocaust.

Not technically a Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post since I didn’t make it myself, but work has me too exhausted to even think about doing anything in the kitchen.  Instead, I called up Austin’s Pizza and had them deliver me a Californian, which I denied myself yesterday.
Thin crust, tomato sauce, spinach, grilled chicken breast, Roma tomatoes, red onions, roasted garlic, Cheddar cheese — it was fucking phenomenal.

Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post - Easter-Fest 2011
Beef ribs, chicken, pork sausage, pulled pork, spinach & mushroom enchiladas, guacamole, rice, beans, and potato salad.  When this family cooks, we go all out.
There were tons of dessert as well, but I didn’t really get into that pile that much (left that for the twenty or so other people there).  The younger brother ended up getting completely tanked off of Shiner Bock beer that I ended up driving his ass back home to Austin.  We ended up stopping a couple times so that he could vomit on the side of the road out in the country.  Luckily for me, it was his car so I didn’t worry too much about the potential splash-back.
Fun times!

Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post - BBQ Chicken Pizza topped with shredded chicken, Monterey jack and sharp Cheddar cheese, diced red onions, toasted cashew halves, and diced green peppers
I ended up using this whole wheat crust mix that I can only find at Spec’s, and I was happy with how things turned out.  Paired with a Blue Moon, a BBQ pizza is a perfect way to end a Sunday in the spring.
One thing though — is it ironic to make a pizza from scratch when you don’t even own a pizza cutter?
If it is, somebody get Alanis Morissette on the line as I have her next hit already written for her.

Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post - Spaghetti and Meatballs served with garlic cheese sticks topped with Fontina cheese
Tonight was a night I completely ignored eating healthy and just gorged.  I’ve been craved spaghetti for a while now, and my new apartment gave me the comfort I need to sit around in the kitchen for a couple of hours and perfect my spaghetti sauce.
The meatballs were a mixture of ground lean beef and ground pork while the sauce is somewhat of my own recipe, modified from an original recipe that I found in a book ages ago.
I am damn stuffed and there’s sooo much left over.  I need to learn how to portion correctly.

Hoarr Sunday Night Dinner Post - Street Tacos (skirt steak, cilantro, avocado slices, goat cheese, chopped onions, and chipotle salsa)
My first time cooking at my new apartment had to be something amazing, so I tried to replicate Maudie’s Beef Taco Especial platter the best that I could.  My brother and I were happy with the results, and I made sure to pair these tacos with ice cold Negra Modelo with lime wedges.
Expect to be seeing more of these in the upcoming month as I plan on resurrecting this weekly tradition.
Have I mentioned how happy I am with living by myself?
