Here’s an interesting thing happening in Austin, Texas that might be worth checking out. It’s a night devoted to the history, the scandals, and the biographies of wrestlers that are no longer with us. I’m a fan of some of the comedians on the bill (Lashonda Lester and Kat Ramzinski, especially), and I’m sure that there will be cheap drinks to boot.
What more does one need!?

Sad to read on Twitter that CC Banana took his own life last night. This was a guy that was an obsessive of a KISS fan as they come, but he was someone I knew of years ago on Metal Sludge. On the site, he was a part of some entertaining interviews with various people in the world of hair metal and rock and became some sort of unofficial mascot for the site by dressing up in a giant banana costume for any show/event he’d be a part of.
He even helped set me up with certain guys in the KISS bootleg circles, so I was always grateful to him for helping me get my own-obsessive mitts on rare tracks from my favorite band.
Weird goofball, I hope things are better for him on the other side.

“Macho Man” Randy Savage (November 15, 1952 – May 20, 2011)
I can’t believe it’s been a full year since Randy Savage died from a sudden heart attack. I was a fan of his growing up, but it was his time during WCW that really made me appreciate his ability as I was more of an active viewer of wrestling. As a kid, I had to beg my mom to pick up a random WWF VHS tape from the local video store, but in the late 90’s, cable ruled everything around me. Thank god for TNT and TBS for getting me into wrestling full-time.
Randy Savage’s presence is missed especially when it seemed that he was in the middle of patching things up with the WWE. He signed a deal with his former employers that allowed for using the “Macho Man” likeness for merchandising, so I was hoping that we’d eventually see him back in a WWE ring. Unfortunately, that never occurred.
Here’s the full write-up Vince McMahon gave to TIME magazine over the passing of Randy Savage:
“It’s important in sports and it’s important in entertainment to stand out. Randy knew that. Right away, he wanted to leave his mark, and to do that he was aware he had to make himself different from everyone else. One way he did this was concentrating on his outfits, those brightly colored costumes with foot-long fringe that became his trademark. He brought to wrestling a unique look and style.
“Randy, who died in a car crash May 20 at age 58, was one of the building blocks of what is now WWE (previously known as the World Wrestling Federation). He had a very unusual voice —remember his ‘Snap into a Slim Jim. Oh, yeah!’ commercials?—and was extremely charismatic.
“Perception is very important in this business, and he also had a very high opinion of himself, something he needed in a locker room full of performers who had been around for a while and had big personalities and followings—like Hulk Hogan, Today, Randy is remembered as one of wrestling’s all time greats. No question about it—he certainly was.”
R.I.P. Macho.

forwhenifeellikesharing asked: Is that blood real? Also: I don't like looking at those two oiled, shirtless, and touching... Or at all. It reminds me of the bad amateur stuff that crops on xtube.
Pfft…who uses XTube anymore!?
And yes, that blood is real.

“Oh, you. You just couldn’t let me go, could you? This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible, aren’t you? You won’t kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness. And I won’t kill you because you’re just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever.”
